From the South Bay:
Take Highway I880 North to Oakland. Pass downtown Oakland, staying left
on the new Cypress Freeway. Take the right fork to Interstate 80 East
(Sacramento, Berkeley) onto the flyover (admire the view). You will
join 80E in its left lanes; merge right immediately. The first exit
after you join 80 is Ashby Avenue; take it. Turn left at the first
light, which is Seventh Street; you'll see a 76 gas station on the northeast corner. Go
north on Seventh four blocks to Grayson, the third light; a landmark
on the right is V&W Patio Door & Window. Turn right onto Grayson, go
one block to Eighth, and turn left. We are in the middle of the block
on the right; the number is 2741 Eighth.
From the North:
Take Interstate 80 West toward San Francisco. The third Berkeley exit,
after Gilman Street and University Avenue, is Ashby Avenue; take it.
Turn left at the first light, which is Seventh Street; you'll see a 76 gas

Take the Bay Bridge east to the East Bay. From the left lanes, take
Interstate 80 East (Berkeley, Sacramento). The second exit after you
